July 22 2026 Eastern Interconnection Disturbance
On July 22, 2026 at around 07:56 EDT, a transmission line trip in Dominion territory resulted in approximately 3 GW of datacenter load loss in northern Virginia. The disturbance was observed by the two KGRID waveform measurement units in the region.
KGRID is a community led project to collect power system waveform data from throughout the world for the benefit for the research community. The interactive plot below shows the prominent frequency and voltage excursion in Charlottesville, Virginia.
